Charli XCX – Brat

These were at the show at Barclays tonight in Brooklyn! $40 bucks. I wasn't going to get merch, but then I saw the picture disc and ran to the merch line. No one else was buying it!! I'm glad I have a copy!!!

This was the OG brat release that was announced at the beginning of the campaign. I that there was no artwork/tracklisting up and she just told us to "buy it, you'll love it" and she was right.

Who's getting this solely for the collector's purpose? I have the blue webstore variant cause they ran out of "brat green". I enjoy spinning it and my copy sounds solid. I just love this variant, photos chosen all of it. Maybe a frivolous purchase, but I'm curious if I'm alone haha

honestly shit sound quality and weird packaging. a great great collectors item. the photos and details in this pressing are beautiful. i made a huge oopsy. i was putting the record away and it slipped out of my hands so now mine has a slight mark across 365. but i have mine framed ( i love charli) so its great to have.

I can see why the packaging is upsetting to some, but I dig the concept.

I was pretty pissed off, however, that this ended up being a picture disc. Would have much preferred a color variant. I haven't heard this record on any other vinyl, but I've heard the digital version probably hundreds of times by now and it's pretty obvious that the audio quality here is poor as usual.

There's a bit of surface noise (I can forgive that), but the main problem is how muffled it sounds. This album has a sound that really pops when the percussion is sharp, but none of that to be found here, sadly. It sounds like I am listening to it through a big foam pad and while that can sound good in some contexts, it doesn't help here. It's not obscene, but it's an obvious downside.

Great album…. But that packaging. Having to rip into it in various places to get to the album. Wild concept.

This pressing about to take off in price as the quality of the album sets in over a few weeks. What a fucking ripper of an album.

HATE the fact that I need to rip part of the gatefold. What in the tarnation? Anyways the pic disc is a nice collectors item for any Charli fan, but the sound quality isn’t the best, compared to the other variants.

This is the first Brat variant that I’m listening to, and weirdly it sounds slightly off pitch? I don’t think it’s spinning too slow, because compared to streaming the songs seem to stay in time. And no, it’s not my turntable, which is showing that it’s spinning at the correct speed. If I get another copy and it sounds normal, I won’t be spinning this one again.

Anyway, love the packaging on this one and the picture disc is very pretty. It sounds like a picture disc, which is to say noticeable surface noise, but sound quality is good.

For a picture disc the sound is quite impressive. It is slightly muffled compared to other pressings but pretty good overall.

I think it’s so camp that you need to tear the cover to get to the record and other contents - adds value to the experience of listening to it. Love this release
