Death (2) – Spiritual Healing

Spiritual Healing has received so many laudatory reviews since its release that it is difficult to somehow complement the series of compliments of this undoubtedly authoritative, time-tested record. In a series of reissues from Relapse, the sound of this particular album makes the most positive impression. As we all know, not all albums were remastered normally (appropriately corresponding to the spirit of the recording), as evidenced by the mass of reviews on various resources. Early albums have quite a lot of compression (SBG / Leprosy), later albums have quite a lot of low-frequency imbalance (Human / ITP). In the case of Spiritual Healing, the sound is balanced both in of the readability of all instruments and in of their volume/frequencies. This album has already been recorded more professionally and more expensive than its predecessors. It's hard to say from which sources the sound was prepared, but it turned out much better than most of other Death's albums in this reissue series. The dynamics indicator is quite high - DR12, but it is worth repeating again that subsequent albums also have excellent dynamics when measured, but there is no sense in dubious remastering from this.

In of design, the silver lamination of the cover does not make an impression (it does not look very appropriate), the commemorative booklet contains the same set of notes and photos as all editions since 2014, the design of the vinyl itself turned out to be really cool - the best in the reissue for 2024 among the rest. In of the quality of the playback, everything is quite clean, as it should be. According to a subjective assessment, the real pleasure of listening has so far been obtained only from Spiritual Healing and The Sound Of Perseverance, the opinion about the rest of the releases ranges from bewilderment to regret. Choose for yourself.

This re-release sounds excellent, It has a good mix, nothing too overpowering. Quiet in between songs, good and flat. Very beautiful record as well, almost a work of art in itself.
