Notes
A1 samples Jean-Michel Jarre - First Rendez-Vous. Its title is taken from the compilation Hellraiser - Ultimate Hardcore Dance Album - Volume 1.
B1 contains samples from Digable Planets - 9th Wonder (Blackitolism) and Wu-Tang Clan - Clan in Da Front.
B2 contains samples from LL Cool J - It Gets No Rougher.
B3 is a reggae track, a cover version of Bob Marley & The Wailers - Iron Lion Zion obviously sung by a different band years after Bob Marley & The Wailers were active. Apparently it was recorded live in Berlin as one of the singers shouts at the audience "How you're feeling, Berlin?" at minute 2:45.

This fantastic EP is one of a few classics from 1995, that defied the wider trend in hardcore towards a lighter, more friendly sound. Instead they took hardcore back to the underground, pushing the tempo and intensity even higher.
On the A side, "Camel" liberally samples a Jean Michel Jarre classic. The rigid hardcore drums fit perfectly with the mournful strings to create a melancholy hardcore monster.
By contrast A2 is quite average, so flip over to the B side. "Play Me" is a glorious frenzy of metal guitars, hip hop samples and skittery breakbeats, all sped up wildly over a bouncy gabba kick at close to 250 bpm. Not so much about aggression - more the delight in pushing the energy levels higher.
Yet somehow B2 takes it even further. It starts with a slow amen, quickly accelerating into a whirlwind of drums, before a quick LL Cool J sample introduces a ludicrously overdriven hardcore kick at 300-odd bpm. Which is pretty fast even now, but at the time practically unheard of. I have a great memory of first hearing that, played in a rave by Mark N - so good even he was smiling and shaking his fist!
Despite all this - the biggest surprise on here is the B3, which is...a Bob Marley cover. I assume the band is of the GTI collective - but who knows? Adding a final idiosyncratic touch to a legendary EP. -
