Edited 9 months agoDecent but far from incredible mastering, with a rather timid low end.
Surface noise is quite noticeable. Fortunately, most of the tracks has strong dynamics, hiding plus or less the thing, but by the time you get to the quieter tracks like Hello, the flaws are obvious.
Finally, the inner sleeves are of really poor quality, made of glossy paper but not antistatic. The vinyls arrived stuck in the sleeves and, due to friction, damage them or even make a hole where they come into with them. Although the records are new, they come out of the sleeve dirty and with micro-scratches.
Fortunately, the music remains solid and that's why I bought these discs, greatly suspecting what kind of product I was going to receive. -
When I listen to this in the record shop it sounded flat one dimensional. I’m listening to it on my P8, Naim XS2 and Proac D20r. It sounds much better. Infact, turning it louder makes it sounds much much better. This I believe is digitally recorded. So I think compression is on the source. My take. It sounds decent.

Edited one year agoSeriously, if this is an example of gorgeous mastering, I must be deaf.
To me this is terrible digital compressed mastering - it has a metallic tinge and virtually zero bass depth and weight.
I just bought the 2017 version. I prefer that. more bass depth, less compression, less digital zing, Amy's voice sounds better. -

Edited one year agoMastered with care, dynamic soundstage. Bonus material makes this a worthwhile purchase for the serious fan. Band version of Immortal makes this worth the purchase alone. Beautiful standout gatefold with metallic colouring. 5 out of 5.
