Ultimately happy with this release. My copy was pretty beat up when it arrived. I requested a new copy from CS, and after a long wait they finally responded and confirmed that a replacement had been shipped. The replacement arrived in the same chintzy mailer as my first copy, but much to my surprise, it was in NM condition when I opened it. Most importantly, it sounds very good.

The execution of this release couldn’t have been worse. Garbage mailer (hello damaged sleeves), single sleeve (not gatefold) for two LPs, and TERRIBLE customer service (lack of). For a debut release of a subscription service to fall so short, with an already anticipated price increase (+$3) looming soon….and the sound of the records = mid at best? Do better, Interscope! Meh +

Edited one year agoSound: It's very, very good... less than great. This is my first "The Chronic" vinyl so I have nothing to compare it to but I know when something is lacking. I'm slightly impressed! Fa'sho not remastered. Didn’t hear any IGD. Great sound stage separation.
Artwork/Packaging: The freeeking black variant outer sleeve makes soooo much sense that how is it the first time being presented this way??!! It's pretty great. Foil print is awesome. One corner dinged in shipping. Pic quality is meh but easily overlooked. Should have been a gatefold with anecdotes and whatnot. The printed insert quality is trash. But, I can get over that. The slip mat is laughable. Nice trinket to have I guess. The inner sleeves are heavy weight paper but are not poly lined. They arrived split at seams as the discs moved around in shipping. I'll replace those with poly lined black ones. The sticky icky green colored discs are very good. Consistent. They’re flat and a nice weight. Not 180 gram though.
Took 3 weeks to arrive. Stuck at one FedEx spot 45 minutes from me for 2 weeks. I ended up with # 2059. WTF! Overall, I'm cool with the purchase but I cancelled my IVC hip. A good one-off buy but not as a subscription you have to manage. -
I, like a few others here, are very happy and fortunate to have gotten a copy that arrived in pristine condition with none of the issues that others have mentioned here. Swapped out the inner jacket with some MOFI sleeves and this baby sounds excellent. This is my first vinyl of The Chronic and am very pleased with this. I have #1374 out of 2500.

Package looks really cool but sounds sucks. Very bright with weak bass. I compared the first two tracks against my 2001 re-issue and it’s a distant second. The 2001 isn’t even that great either. So it might be remastered, just poorly.

Who remastered this?
There's no indication from the Interscope or the sale page that this is remastered.
There's no credits, that I can see of a remaster.
Why is it labeled a remaster -
Thankfully My copies are both mint inside and out. No bent corners or split seams. presentation is excellent looks so dam cool and sounds amazing. classic album reissued brilliantly.

Good luck finding a mint copy of this record. Mine came with the obligatory seam split😢. The jacket is super thin and Interscope will ship it in a cheap mailer with no padding.
