Imo, the fact that Richie Hawtin has not yet come close to delivering an album that is as good as this, let alone better or more advanced, shows its brilliance. I believe he created something here which was a surprise even to him. It's genius. -
still fresh sounding classic after all these years. An album that has survived time and will stay as a classic -
The title track Consumed is just too beautiful. It's dark, dub, warm and silent. In my opinion besides of Panikattack his best track. Pure electronic music.

Edited 13 years agoWell, what can I say? This is an awesome album by any standards, for me it is still Richie's best work so far, very deep and sexy as fuck, very influential imho. Be prepared for pure machine love in a very deep and dark mood..

Edited 19 years agoCardinal point in Hawtin's carreer. Probably the highlight, but, on the other hand, from then on he could get nowhere as close to perfection as on this release. Much deeper than previous lp's; oniric soundscapes create unique atmosphere which cannot be heard anywhere else. Would love to hear "Consumed part 2"; instead of it Plastikman turned 'plastic' in sound...

Excellent. Very minimalistic grooves with dubby & slightly dark athmospheres. Sounds and noises appear and disappear slowly during running time of the tracks. Sometimes I have an assoziation to Chain Reaction. This one is the most advanced Richie Hawtin I know at the moment.
