Nasum's full-length debut is pure power. A crushing album in its energy, in which there are no weak points, 38 tracks for 45 minutes and 0 fillers. The average length of the composition is about a minute. As the classic said, "brevity is the sister of talent". An attacking wall of sound, an emotional duel of vocalists, a series of super-intense ages from track to track, often without the opportunity to take a breath. Despite the fact that the album appeared much later than the period when the "classic works" were released, it is still very authoritative and significant for the underground.
The undeniable strength of this album is a very natural recording, the instruments sound very natural, creating an effect of presence. Vinyl perfectly reveals the potential of this record. The low-frequency vibe of the rhythm section is just like a blast wave. The overall sound was a pleasant experience, the mastering was done wisely, emphasizes the dynamism and implacable nature of the music itself. Great, just great.
Repress from Relapse coincided with the 25th anniversary of the album. Laconic design, lyrics and a commemorative note from A.J. The color of the vinyl does not match the design code of the cover and the insert, although the record itself looks pretty cool. As for the quality of vinyl playback, my copy was ordered new from distro and has no problems (although the new copy from Relapse has a typical drawback in the form of a lack of a protective envelope and a ton of paper dust as a result). Anyway, this is an awesome album and very convincing in sound, just recommendations. -
Edited one year agoSeriously killer splatter, also plays pretty well, some popping problems here and there.
