Edited 18 years agoThis is arguably one of the finest Hip Hop albums of the early 90s and still one of my all time favorites. Though I've never heard a Pete Rock song I didn't like, almost each of the 16 tracks on "Mecca And The Soul Brother" is simply oustanding. Songs like "Straighten it out", "Soul Brother #1" and "It's like that" have everything that I'm missing so desperately in most recent Rap acts: deep basslines, beefy old school beats, convincing lyrics and a lot of soul. That, and the fact that "They Reminisce Over You" is simply one of the best rap anthems ever, is why I'd highly recommend this album. If you don't have it, go get it!
