I also feel this is the mix that this album always deserved ..I know every note and detail of the original it was always my favorite PF album but ,i like this so much better ..
Such a great listen and has a more hard rock edge to the overall mix ..love it

I prefer the original mix by a small margin but this was a great, fresh mix to give this album a different atmosphere closer to the feel of Wish You Were Here.

Pigs is definitely improved and is the definitive version. The bass and drums KICK ASS and makes the song a much harder feel.

Dogs has elements I like and elements I don't like (I love the synths being brought up in the mix, as well as the drums and bass, but the guitars lost their bite and aggressiveness, particularly on the harmony part that is supposed to sound like dogs howling. The middle section is by far much better than the original and much more psychedelic than it has ever been. The bass is very powerful but doesn't overpower the music.)

I still prefer the original mix for Sheep. The beginning makes my head spin and I still don't know how I feel about being able to hear Roger's voice at the end of each line in the verses when it blends together with Rick's keyboard note. Still a good mix but like I said, I prefer the original.

There was a missed opportunity to NOT include the original 8-track version of Pigs On the Wing Parts 1&2 together with the Snowy White guitar solo bridging the two. It is a vastly superior song than the two bookending versions on the original album. However, I will say that I prefer the new mixes of both parts of Pigs On the Wing because it is a dryer mix. There was wayyy too much reverb on the original in my opinion.

The CD itself sounds great, and I was forced to opt to the CD because the vinyl defects were horrible. It was essentially unplayable on certain parts of Dogs and Sheep. But it all worked out because this led me to invest in CDs and build up my 80s-early 90s CD pressings. I'm glad I finally discovered how great a well mastered disc can sound!

This 2018 James Guthrie mix blows away the original 1977 mix on all levels...it's almost like i am listening to a different album.

Note: Apparently the vinyl version has a big defect rate. Stick with the cd/sacd for this one.

Very rare when the CD sounds better than the LP. The CD mix has so much more bass than the LP record version of this release. Just teeth rattling!
