Solid release. 11/2 is pretty straightforward for late '69, but it ends with an awesome Dark Star and an even better Death Don't Have No Mercy. 12/26 is really unique with not just the acoustic set but also a very raw China/Rider and a weirdly arranged New Speedway Boogie. The Dark Star is also excellent, but the closing Lovelight sounds crappy and feels a bit off - apparently they had to wrap the show up in ten minutes so maybe that threw off the vibe or something. In any case, I'd take this release over DaP 30 (which is from a few days after the Dallas show) and it's probably a good substitute for the now insanely priced DaP 10. Hopefully Dave will get around to releasing some early 69 or that 68 reel they were talking up in the GD almanac. As it is, the 11/2 show is the earliest show he's ever put out in this series - sad!

Great release of early Dead, not too much around and this is definitely one of the gem releases for this era. Gritty but great

The small acoustic set is a gem. Not usually a huge fan of the super early stuff but this release kills.

Edited 2 years agoNot super excited about the two shows being split on two of the three discs... but I get it. Still, I'da paid extra to have the two shows separate. Regardless, another great set and the sound quality is superb as always. That 11/2 Dark Star though... phew! Don't miss it, it's a killer!
