Very nice mastering overall, bit more dynamic than the digital versions. The vocals sound a bit muted in my opinion, but not disappointing. The pressing is very good with little noisy parts, nothing distracting.

Edited one month agoBought brand new sealed from an independent seller. Record is flat and well centered. The spin hole is way too tight/small. The mixing is good, it sounds a bit more rounded / less sharp and “in your face” than most digital versions (CD/Streaming) of this album, especially with the electric guitar and cymbal crashes. It doesn’t suffer too much from compression despite having 6 tracks on each side. Unfortunately, my copy has 2 nasty scratches which totally ruin about A3 and A4… Quite frustrating. The pressing quality is okay, a lot of tics on side A, but way better on side B. There goes the vinyl lottery… 4.6 / 5

I would say this press is decent, I’m sure that the version pressed at Optimal is much better than this GZ cut

Edited 8 months agoRelease notes say this was released in Europe but I just bought this pressing in a US record shop last week (appears to be this one, matrix numbers mostly match and shrink had made in CR sticker). Not sure if this warrants an edit but I assume this might be the standard in US shops now, did anyone else also purchase this outside of Europe?

I bought mine sealed on Amazon Brazil.
There are factory optical scratches on "High & Dry", at least it didn't jump but you can hear the pops and clicks throghout the track.
And on most of the silent tracks on this side (side A) you can hear pops.
I'll wash it next time to see if it improves.
And there was a lot of dust on both sides!
I'll paraphrase one of the reviewers here: "records are getting more and more expensive and quality control is declining everywhere". -
Edited one year agoGood pressing. Black Star sounds great on this one. Volume is a bit lower than other pressings but just crank it up and it sounds stellar. Really quiet pressing. Classic album.

one of my favorite albums, and having this copy is awesome! great sound quality, only minor thing is that for some reason this seems to have a lot louder “chatter” than the rest of my collection, which is mildly distracting

This is a great pressing!! I only paid $20 at my local record store, and i think it's a steal!!! Try to find a cheap copy if you can!!!
