This CD version is one of the highlights of the 2009 remastering project. It is one of the cleanest sounding and most detailed versions of this classic album. It has a warm, live feel to it with the vocals sounding full and naturalistic although it lacks the punch and sparkle of a good clean UK vinyl version. The overall impression to my ears is that the album is much closer to the Live at the BBC recordings from the 1990s with some of the vocal harshness in some vinyl versions rolled off. Individual vocal contributions, especially in harmonies, stand out more and, for someone like myself who has listened to the stereo version of the LP for decades, there are new little details here and there that pop out and make this a version worth returning to. One of the strengths of the 2009 releases was the well put together packaging, and its no exception here. The digipack includes a gorgeously reproduced album cover with additional photographs, and an accompanying booklet which delves deeper into the recording of the album. If you want a cheap, clean and respectfully produced version of the original stereo mix this is a very good option.
