The Plaid mixes were something special for me at the time and still hold up all these years later. Same for the Howie B mix too. The main UNKLE mix was a bit of an eye (mind) opener for me on release and certainly still has its moments. Portishead plays mix is a nice oddity. +1 star for the Plaid/Howie B mixes.

Edited 8 years agoFor sure, I agree with TimF about the 2 best songs on this release. But best Unkle's record is more "Never, Never Land" for me. "Time Has Come" sounds more like a debut and it sounds too much like Trip Hop Dj mixing in various experimental ways. Unkle has found later his own style and their last records are more consistent in a whole.

Not just a wonderful "tribute to Sun Ra and all things fucked up" (noted on the sleeve), If You Find Earth Boring (U.N.K.L.E. Mix) and Howie B. Vs U.N.K.L.E. Mix sample the bassline from Sun Ra's "Twin Stars Of Thence" from Sun Ra - Lanquidity
-
Certainly the best UNKLE release, but it's the two Plaid mixes at the end that elevate this into the stratosphere. Absolutely extraordinary.
