all this talk about CERN...and ive always just been here for White_ii
Ive played this track at some many house parties stacked to the gills with drug out folks and its always something else. still now, all these years later, a total beast of funky psychedelic music -
Cern is perhaps the last example of Monolake's older style. Crushing mechanical style beats set to a crisp and icy soundtrack. Infectious as is the track hard and unusual. 18 years later still a landmark of techno.
Although I like Cinemascope and Gravity more as albums, this is possibly the pinnacle of Monolakes career. Otherworldly and mesmorizing. An onslaught of audio history. Play this in 50 years to any young adult and they will still be bug eyed dumbfounded by this mechanical funk.

Everyone who did listen to the latest monolake album "momentum" told them to release the opening track CERN on vinyl. Here it comes. For those who had no chance listening to it yet: it`s dark and powerful high tech drum&bass. The vinyl version is slightly modified and is up to 30% more efficient on dancefloors than the original. They have been testing it live and it works. The other side features the tempting sonic sculpture "WHITE_II". A beautiful construction of percussions and chords flowing and permutating in time. Works well in several contexts and fills spaces of different size and shape with structured liquid
