Why do I feel ripped off by the Beatles rereleases ? I won't argue on sound here, just content. These deluxe box sets are expensive and are not aimed at a general public but at FANS. So, why so little alternate takes, unreleased & jams ? (same goes for Revolver & Abbey Rd, a bit less for Pepper & The White...). Sure the impros are not all good, but please let us judge by ourselves. Why no tracks where they bounce off each other : "I Me Mine / Domino", "Get Pack", "Enoch Powell", "White Power Promenade" or the longest "Dig It" ??? Are we too dumb to decode, to apprehend the beauty in these rough nuggets ?

Probably not a perfect set, but for the price I got it at, I think it's pretty awesome! Bonus points for the included Blu-Ray.

During the covid-delay of this set, Glyn Johns "remastered" the Get Back disc by using the later 1970 mix tape, wich introduced a lot of continuity errors. The most notable being "For You Blue" wich uses a new vocal recording of George from early 1970, NOT 1969.

Because the 1970 mix had portions removed that were present on the 1969 mix, these had to be filled in using the earlier mix. Most notable "Teddy Boy" but also smaller fragments cut from the later mix. Especially the smaller edits are rather obvious and jarring to listen to. One will hear a sudden increase in background hiss at those splices.

The only way to get a genuine representation of the 1969 Get Back mix (apart from the "missing" on Teddy Boy wich was removed digitally according to the booklet) is to buy the first edition "Misspress" Japanese SHM-Set.

Universal/Apple was caught with their pants down and re-released a "fixed" set in Japan that includes the errors from the international version.

It is also really dumb that they didn't use the 1970 tape Glyn brought over to remaster the 2 Bonus tracks on the EP while they were at it. "Across the Universe" & "I Me Mine".

Instead, these were mastered from low quality sources. "Across The Universe" has the same speed fluctuations and tape dropouts heard on a lot of Bootleg CD's while "I Me Mine" additionally has a lot of distortion.

Apple Records (Universal Music) sold us in Europe and in the US this CD box for an average value of ~80€. The box includes 5 CDs and one audio Blu ray. Later Apple Records pressed essentially the same songs (only some studio chatter was cut) on 2 (!) CDs for Beatles fans in Russia. And they paid an average value of ~10€! I have no words for that. This is business. Obviously they can do it with Beatles fans.

A good set, but I agree that they could’ve filled out the sessions/jams discs a lot more.

Not good value for money. From the hundreds of hours from Twickenham and Saville Row we get just over 70 minutes (needlessly spread over two CDs, when it could have fitted onto one). From the 45 minutes of the rooftop concert, there is just a single track. A bit of a wasted opportunity really.

I love the set, especially the Glyn Johns mix, but I was surprised how much sibilance was included from Ringo's cymbals (on some tracks).

What a waste of money this is. A total cash-grab, the only thing worth listening to or having is the new remix of the album, it's not bad, sounds good. The rest is just a waste to pad it out and the music could have fit on 3 CDs. Ridiculous, such a ripoff.

And so it goes on and on....from the Let It Be cassette version to the Lp and then on to the remastered CD....i bought them all, lol.

And now the bluray format featuring dolby atmos 5.1 mix of this splendid album!
When listening to the surround sound mix of this beloved album that I grew up to, I can even hear the short breaths taken by the fab four during their singing....i am crying as I listen to it and I am not ashamed to say this to the world.
