Edited 2 years agoNow I have two different editions of this Walmart release:
1) Edition with hype sticker exactly shown as here on discogs, i.e. with the catalog number printed nearly as big as the word "Yellow".
2) Edition with hype sticker NOT exactly shown as on discogs, i.e. with the catalog number printed much smaller than the word "Yellow".
The 2nd one also has a sticker "Made in " on the lower back side.
I assume that 2) is a later edition, can anyone confirm that? -

Just sounds meh. Not nearly as bad as my indie exclusive brown copy, but nowhere near as good as my Gucci exclusive copy. Relatively quiet yet continual surface noise plagues the background throughout disc 1, and while it doesn't sound like straight up cardboard (cough cough brown pressing), it's still a bit disturbing during playback. Disc 2 is much better, with a mostly quiet playback experience minus a few pops, but still not as clean sounding as my Gucci pressing. Also, this release sounds less dynamic overall sound-quality-wise for some reason (not comparing to the brown pressings, because it's so horrendous). More muddy, in a way. Overall, pretty color, but I think I'll stick with listening to my Gucci exclusive.

These reviews have me scratching my head - unless there are two pressings like walmart did for Tron. Mine came with a sticker on the back saying "made in " is whisper quiet until the needle gets into the dead wax. If you find a copy that was not made in , perhaps caveat emptor.

My copy doesn’t sound too great. The surface noise during Halley’s comet is almost unbearable, and Billie’s voice sounds pretty muffled throughout pretty much the whole album.

I don't know if I scored lucky or whatnot but my copy seems to play fine! There's minimal static and no pops/skips for me, but if it's not the same for others, maybe get a different variant?

Edited 3 years agobought the YELLOW vinyl Walmart copy....much distortion (and not the kinds often intentionally used by Finneas), esp on side 1 and 3....returned it....played again....same thing, same places (after cleaning both times of course)....returned again...this time, bought BLACK vinyl edition at Walmart, $26.97USD, also made in , as noted on the shrink wrap, but this time, perfect....so I'd say avoid the yellow pressing.
