Edited 9 months agoTu veux un Camembert? I certainly do, which is why I own 3 versions - this, Caroline (C 1520), and the recent Actuel reish. I always wondered why Virgin put this out - both in the same year (1974) - on the budget Virgin label, as well as Caroline. I guess I'll never know, but there's a difference: the Caroline version has a locked groove at the end of Side A only. But the Virgin version has a locked groove at the end of both Sides A and B! I love that difference and for me locked grooves on both sides make this Virgin issue a must-have. Not compared for other differences (e.g. mix) and not checked the Actuel version.

Hi, I have a VC 502 with matrix run off's matching those shown on the Release Page, including the "Pierre" and "Normale" inscriptions on sides A&B respectively. But mine also has D.Green inscribed in the run off on both sides. Has anyone else seen this? Thanks.

Edited 6 years agoThese do not look like the original labels and second press labels? The matrix on second press for side 1 reads as above with RR after Pierre and 3 stamped opposite. B side RM after Normale 3 stamped opposite. The original centre labels are black and white virgin twins logo and were initially miss pressed. The matrix is as above with G after Pierre and 2 opposite and side two matrix has L stamped after Normale and 2 opposite

What true original copies have are the paper bag with Gong simply stamped on this in two locations. As stated here the booklet sheets only came the initial Byg copies IMHO

My copy has the side 2 label on both sides. Does anyone else have this? Does it deserve a separate entry? -
I have this with labels identical to the '76 UK RE, except it's cat# is C 1505. The matrix still reads "Pierre" and "NORMALE".

Edited 15 years agoProbably release date isn't correct. On my opinion this first Virgin UK reissues date is not earlier than 1973. Nice explorations, Andrew Kolobov. I agree with Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camembert_Electrique
