Gaspard Augé – Escapades

Pretty solid solo project. Definitely hear the Justice influence but perhaps a bit more dialed down. Almost seems like a soundtrack of a movie or tv show.

Un super album solo qui nous en dit plus sur les goûts de Gaspard et de sa manière de composer dans le duo Justice. Côté vinyle c'est du MPO donc c'est très propre du pressage à la pochette. J'ai lu des remarques que le mastering, en effet ce n'est pas la latitude d'Hyperdrama mais ça reste un bon mastering quoiqu'un peu faible en volume niveau mixage

A side not centered... Results in very poor listing expérience.. i had to send it back and i'll not buy again.

I love the music on this album. I also love the art direction and packaging. They did such an amazing job with everything. This is an incredibly unique album. The Pitchfork review of this release was so off-base and basically "not for them." If you like Justice, this is for you. That being said, it should have been a 45. For me, this music is bass, punch, and power. I felt it was compromised on this release, and wish it would have been mastered in a balls to the wall 45rpm format. That being said I'm super happy to own this album and think it sounds great as is. But it's not going to be as clear and untamed as the digital version (it's never going to be, on vinyl, but I think in this instance spreading the tracks across 2x45s would have been neat...who knows, maybe the'll do that in the future!) Buy it, it's great.

The music of the album itself is 5 stars, I like his solo debut a lot. A whole lot. 4 or 3.5 stars however for the mastering/mixing on this album. It isn’t bad, but it isn’t great either. Highs aren’t super clear and the mids bleed into the lows sometimes. Decent pressing, some surface noise here and there, but very minimal.

Tracklist on the vinyl is wrong. Side A contains the first 7 tracks and Side B 5 tracks.
