i have to agree with 'tetsufreak.' i love the first two installments (especially 'from within 2'), but this one doesn't do anything for me [for the love of god, leave out the guitar!] you can tell by the album art alone that something has changed for the worse....

This didnt connect with me on any level and the guitar noodling left a lot to be desired.one for the recycle bin im afraid.

Edited 10 years agoParts I to XI of "From Within 3" are really good: you have the pulsating cosmic synthscapes punctuated by chilled-down beats that you'd come to expect from this pair... It'd be fair to say these 11 lovely ambient/techno tracks are as good as anything on the previous two albums. But do yourself a favour and stop the album after part XI, you'll be much better off then. Because Part XII is nothing but 8 minutes of various irregular thuds with loads of reverb, it sounds like movers loading crates into an empty industrial hall. After that you have something like 20 minutes of silence, neatly divided into 78 different tracks. And the reward you get for reaching track number 91 is... 10 seconds of some stupid kid voices, apparently sampled from Star Trek. I dunno whether Namlook and Hawtin were smoking too much reefer in the studio or what, because ending an otherwise cool album with these two "tunes" feels like they're just fucking with the listener.
I also have to say that, even though FAX are generally known for their beautiful art design, at this point in the label's history they had some ugly-ass album covers. Unless you specifically want to own the original FAX release, get the M_nus or the Ambient World reissue instead, they have much prettier cover art.
