Edited 13 days agoI've had this for a while and I've just been getting into some vintage city pop albums, and holy crap the difference in quality is stunning. My copy of this is noisy, clicky, poppy - which was made more annoying with my updated setup (vs the the beginner turntable I originally listened on.) Used albums 40 years older sound better. Bummer, because it's an outstanding presentation.
-
I've got 3, maybe 4 different versions of this soundtrack. This is definitely the worst sounding. The gatefold is and slipcover are great to look at tho.
-
My copy has the bad surface noise including clicks. It sounds a bit like a picture disc. I will try cleaning it at some point and come back with an update if there is any improvement. I usually do a three stage clean: GrooveWasher spray and cleaning pad, ultrasonic with GrooveWasher G.Sonic, and then the SPINCARE record cleaning machine. If that doesn’t help, nothing will.
I’m trying to determine if I’m also hearing distortion due to blown levels. I’d need to cross-check with the digital release to be sure. Such a shame because the discs look beautiful.
I’m not hugely impressed with the cover. It feels like it’s missing a protective lacquer layer and will therefore fade faster. The white back actually seems faded already. Is it supposed to look like that? The track listing looks like some of the ink has rubbed off or degraded. -

The presentation of this album is absolutely killer, but the sound quality doesn't quite match that. It sounds fine, nothing really wrong for the most part, but there is a lot of surface noise that distracts from the music. The more recent Target exclusive repress is my preferred version of this album to listen to.
-
This is a terrible pressing. Not just noisy, but really poorly mastered. I own the black Disney vinyl too, and that sounds gorgeous compared to this Mondo attrocity.

Couldn't disagree more with the sound quality described below. I have no issues...this is a GREAT pressing, and beautiful presentation. I really wonder what people are listening with...and you should too. Cheap suitcase players for under 100$ or Ortofon needles, and turntables, amos speakers etc. It DOES make a difference. Personally...I have the original pressing AND this re-issue and they both sound great

First of all, one of my favorite soundtracks of all time, and this is a gorgeous looking release. The color and splatter is perfect. That said, I was a bit disappointed in the sound. I don't typically have issues with popping like others do, and I didn't have much issue with surface noise here either, but the sound balance feels way off. I'm no expert so it's hard to describe, but where similar sounding records really shine this one feels muted in a way.
-
I got my copy and it immediately had (what I assume was) AWUFL static pops across every side of every disc. I've put it through my spin clean TWICE but now it seems to have more noticeable background fuzz, so I'm not sure what to do honestly.
