First of all - there's no way this could be pressed by CBS Carrollton. Vinyl stopped being pressed there in 1991, this is from '95

Edited 12 years agoFor the first time in Capitol's interfering, butchering, re-eq-ing and tampering with Beatles recordings/releases appalling Hi$tory, they actually got this one 100% correct. This release has it's proper and wonderful paper label. something that sadly EMI's UK release did and does not have!
To save costs, further reduce the status, be-little and value of the UK 7" 45s and put more in the share holders coffers, EMI United Kingdom followed Philips' Phonogram IEP automated manufacturing division (Integral Embossed & Painted) and changed their remaining 7" presses to fully automated IEP manufacturing and used silver paint across all the brands.
Capitol clearly knew what EMI were now pressing and realised they could finally cock-a-snoop at UK EMI a release a vastly superior and desirable pressing and by opting to ignore the USA 7" 45 patent of a large hole 1 1/2" die-cut for RCA changers and going for a more globally appealing standard small hole for the world's turntables. (Clearly RCA's patented 7" 45 law has now been consigned to industry history, and the amazing 1949-1950 format war between Columbia Inc and RCA truly ended?
For those with those RCA Changers or Juke Boxes that naturally had no option but to fit a 1 1/2" centre cone to play USA patented 45's then thank goodness there are drill bits and the alike out there!
This USA release must have caused great embarrassment back at Brook Green and over at Blythe Road.
It is quite interesting that the finish of the UK release was not picked up by the Beatle's fans at the time, but there it is, the proof's in the pressings.
The UK custom Juke Box run pressings are unpainted IEPs and have the designated prefix of RLH 6422, these records were pre-ordered by Telstar Distribution who managed the UK Juke Box industry (Vinyl) and then were die-cut in house by Telstar. Unpainted IEPs with a die-cut LH but only have the commercial R 6422 prefix are from a later run and are just unpainted commercial copies.
