Notes
Recorded live at Trancentral.
The sleeve notes show "sections", with the start and finish times (rather than tracks with duration), since this is actually a continuous 1-track CD, 44 mins 43 secs in length.
The title of track 1.2 has an extra space between the words "Of" and "Ricardo".
The title of track 1.9 contains a spelling error; the correct spelling is 'Wichita', not 'Witchita'

Track 1.8 published by EG / ZOO, Warner Chappell / Rachel Music.
Track 1.12 published by EG / Zoo, Warner Chappell / EMI.

As Polar_lights mentioned PDO copies are prone to the dreaded disc rot, as are many CDs on Rising High Records. A pox and a curse upon the Blackburn plant!
As to this record: i bought a vinyl copy on KLF communications, played it to death, sold it to a guy in Russia for £40, then bought the CD on KLF communications. Regret selling the vinyl, as people who originally owned a copy of Joy Divisions' 'An ideal for living' will do now....the price has gone through the roof.......
I digress.
Here the 'Leff use an ensemble of vocal samples of American preachers, radio hosts etc to make a soundscape out of the collage with electronic drones and EQ effects. So far so Pink Floyd OR 'My life in the bush of ghosts' by Eno/Byrne. Yet this record came out at a zeitgeist moment in 1990, when rave was in, drugs were in, people were tuned to the loss of the ozone layer, and positivity was in after rampant grey Thatcherism. Those who , those glorious days.
It was records like this that drew many of us away from the violence-threatened dancefloors, that the gangs in Manchester ruined, and into a more cerebral, positive sphere. Enter Warp and IDM. But that's another tale.
This is a classic. It has aged much better than the KLF's 'stadium house' where they danced-up their back catalogue to risible but financially successful results. Buy it. -
Edited 4 years agoI lent a copy of this, along with a big bunch of other CDs to a pal at Uni in 1993. Their house got burgled & they all went :( I did later manage to pick up the Wax Trax issue :) Happy endings!
Hard to believe there was a time when people would steal CDs! -
It's pretty sad but I have to it that almost every copy out there nowadays is suffering from severe disc rot, thanks to darned PDO. Those who are unaware of disc rot issue associated with manufacturing fault at PDO factory can find all info at wikipedia or elsewhere. Others are advised to be extremely cautious purchasing any cd pressed by PDO, including this gem. Better go for waxtrax US release.
