De/Vision – World Without End

What drags World Without End down and down again is the often ridicilously naive and uninspired lyrics which fails to be delivered with any kind of charm. While some bands, Covenant not mentioned, can manage to build a song in its entirety around one or two sentences without feeling too simplistic, cuts like The Way You Treat Me and To Be With You struggles to find relevance even with full blown verses and choruses about touching breasts in the night and wanting to be with someone (again). The production, however, has taken leaps from the preceeding and apparently forgotten EP Boy on the Street, which tracks is not included here in any kind of fashion, and while paving way for a perfect listen when not concentrating on actually delving into the experience, with all the beats and whistles World Without Ends offer of dancefloor friendly nature, almost every cut except the obvious hits falls short due to the clash between good production and crap lyrics. Also, still heavily inspired by Depeche Mode DE/Vision struggles to find a niche of their own, but at least the album shows glimpses of what is to come with the sheer brillance of the sing along choruses of Dinner Without Grace and the unexpectedly heavily updated version of the debut single Your Hands on My Skin.
