It was supposed to be Capitol 5826 before it became a Brother release in North America. Covers had been made by Capitol in the US, but instead of destroying them, they were sent to Scandinavia to be used there instead. In Denmark and Sweden they were used as official sleeves for the release of the 45 release there (using the US prefix), as it was out on Capitol and not Brother over there. What is considered a super rare US sleeve in the US has up until now been a quite common one in Scandinavia.

"Heroes and Villains" was the Beach Boys' follow-up to their classic "Good Vibrations".

There are different versions of this song. Personally, I prefer this edited version to the longer recording that was eventually released.

Musically, it's all too clever. Brian Wilson was nothing if not an over-achiever. I like the song's many riffs and changes, but this song never possessed the commercial potential that "Good Vibrations" had in spades. Consequently, it never achieved "hit" status. But it is certainly enjoyable Beach Boys' music.

The b-side, "You're Welcome" is a piece of throwaway, minor fluff. Forgiveable, in the sense that Wilson and his Beach Boys often delivered solid two-sided singles.
