Probably the best double-cd goa compilation ever released. Goa trance classics all the way. I sold mine in delirium not long ago, and i already regret :)

Edited 8 years agoAh... the first psychedelic trance cd I ever heard back in the 90s, I feel like commenting this awesome classic release.
Here we go:
1-01 Stanley Shanti & The Chillum Wallahs: it builds up so fast that enchains you to the floor, there is that mad repetitive sample that really gets in your head plus the synths are superbly acidic. Monstrous track!
1-02 Pretty dark moody and psychotic track by Green Nuns here.. It is surely a deep change after first track, but it is just an intermission before...
1-03 ...One of the most classic track ever made strikes in! Boris Blenn defined the positive Goa Trance atmosphere with this track, so classic and powerful you can't really say you know this music if u never heard this track. It left a strong mark in me; Technically speaking is also a massive complex tune quite fast and uses a sample that made history.
1-04 It is the strangest track of the compilation, an acidic track, quite interesting but surely dated right now, although it has a deep atmospheric thing going on.
1-05 Fast and stomping, Transwave is taking us to a nice journey through early goa trance. The acid lines are running all over and they surely created a hit.
1-06 Another classic. Man With No Name sets a milestone with this remix, much better than the original edit of the track and actually he revitalised and changed it, giving it a mysterious touch :).
1-07 This track has one of the best atmosphere and intro I ever heard into this genre, superb. The synth start and progress slowly and the tune is enchanting and getting through you like a mental trip.
1-08 Doof here has a slightly minimal track, compared to the tunes he released in the same era and it is surely less impressive than the others. I it I never liked this one. The end part is the most interesting but I feel it lacks smoething.
1-09 Disco Volante. This tune defined the beginning of the Transient Records sound. The beat is so typical u can recognise it amongst tons of tracks. A good classic. It can work on a dancefloor even today as the progression of the synth is simply marvellous.
1-10 Sourmash. I don't really know what this tune is doing into this compilation as it is more classic Trance, fitting better into clubs than into forest parties although it has an interesting acidic line in the middle.
2-01 Total Eclipse starts the second CD with a massive track, not as famous as other classic but refined and very appealing to my taste. The synth's fading out effect is really something particular, a great idea.
2-02 Indoor, Israeli masters of psychedelic trance are presenting a real classic that has been played for a long time due to its particular sound. Production might not be excellent but it surely is a spiritual track.
2-03 Phreax. This track is the weakest of the second disc and I can't really say it has much value except for a nice melody in the middle.
2-04 Amanite FX. I always wanted to know what the secret of Mana is, since I've read the title of this track, and the oriental and mystic touch it has is really marvellous. An underground French project that has never got the right exposure in my opinion.
2-05 Another atmospheric intro that leaves the place to a really wonderful acid line. I really love this tune and I'd say it lefts a mark.
2-06 But here it comes the first goa trance track I have heard in my life. Thanks to a friend who had copied it for me on a tape cassette long ago, I immediately got hooked to this sound. So incredibly psychedelic it will always stay in my top 10. The production itself is just OK but the voices in the middle of the track are somehow enchanting.. together with the simple melodic line. An awesome track.
2-07 Blue Planet Corp. needs no intro.. This is one of their most famous tracks that becomes complex very quickly.
2-08 After all these fast killers a nice smooth mid-tempo track, although the fact that is slower doesn't really make it a less tack, but actually it's very hypnotic.
2-09 Judson Elloart has never been my cup of tea, too spacey. However the effect are nicely done it never grew on me.
2-10 Couldn't be a better end to this marathon: the wonderful Astral Pancakes by the master Hallucinogen. Nothing to say, except that is a quite mental and wicked track.
In my opinion this compilation express the epic value of psychedelic trance of those times.
