The facts : 'Resistance' has 3-4 dB less dynamics than 'Road Of Bones'.
This is intolerable. A great lack of punch in drums and bass.
( Didn't Cook hear the mixdwn...?) Loudness-war has reached IQ.
The feeling: In my opinion ROB was their peak of inspiation.
Resistance is unfurtunately not the consequent progression of Road Of Bones.
Mostly a smooth dark endtime story. But something's missing. The real turns and peaks...
The suggestion: More room for your rythmn section, more punch, more emotion
to avoid an cheesy feeling...please... -
"Resistance" has more music, more senses, more poetry than you can imagine before listening. YES is darker and heavier in sound
than IQ's earlier works. IT IS VERY GOOD. FOR ME it is a manifesto of creating sublime music. RECOMMEND.

I am somewhat disappointed with this album. It lacks the melodious qualities of previous albums and is a little too dark and heavy for me. Although Paul Cook is an incredible drummer, I find he does not know when to simmer down in softer moments.
