"Pressed By" Monarch Record Mfg. Co. from "MR" in the runouts.
Runout details: everything is hand etched except the pressing plant ID "MR", which is stamped on each side.
Single jacket with full printed paper inner sleeve, containing lyrics and a photo of the band on flip-side.
The MON-1 side two mastering is notable for a defect at the beginning of the side -- a fluttering drop-out in one channel during the guitar intro to "People Are Strange". For early, but not first, gold label Monarch issues that have "(MON-2)" or higher in the runout of side two, please refer to The Doors - Strange Days
Some copies seem to come with a sticker on the shrink wrap, see image.

Their best record, odd, eerie and unsettling, and that is just the first track.Jim does his best Sinatra on Your Lost Little Girl.A Classic.

Just got this in, im not hearing any louder channels but I definitely heard a nasty drop out on People Are Strange. Plus, the whole album sounds tinny/crummy. Not sure if a MON-2/3/4 will sound any better, but based off side 1, this 1st pressing is disappointing. Sticking with my AP and DCC, at least i got the custom inner sleeve
-
In fact I have another Monarch press, which it' s lister here on discogs as a " revised master" that sounds way better than this and it is balanced right.
I think that press also need an editing on the note informations because it is explained that is not true monarch first press which is like you have correctly said a terrible lie just to create confusion and hype beyoond collectors like us.
So, please delete also that wrong infomations on that one, thank you. -
I have read somewere that some early pressing (or just the early Monarch ?) have a traditional Elektra inner sleeve without the picture of the band (like the first album). That what I have. Can someone confirm this ?
-
Nobody has notice the fact that side two is not balanced well...I mean...left side channel plays more higher in volume to right...I really don't know if the " hype" created about this press it is due to some technical problems more than a " better master"...what do you think about this ?
