Much more defined and clear than remastered pressing. The bass boost of remaster saps the detail of lower midrange giving it a muddy sound which this doesn’t have.

GREAT ANALOG SOUND!!!. I finally got a copy....it sounds even better, (in of sampling and realism) than any other edition. I have a 2021 European edition and although its volume is stronger, more dynamic (there are two discs), the Elektra presses are still better.-

gran sonido analógico. por fin consegui una copia.... suena aun mejor, (en terminos de muestreo y realismo) que cualquier otra edcion. tengo una edicion 2021 eropea y si bien es mas fuerte su volumen, mas dinamico (son dos discos), sigue siendo mejor las prensas de elektra. -
I have the 2010 US and 2020 Made in represses. I just purchased this first pressing Allied press, got it today. Cleaned it, played it. It's so crisp, so clean, so clear. I went to the show in Mansfield, MA on 18 June and listening to it feels like an experience just like the show. So amazing! Next purchase, a first pressing of Pornography and Head on the Door.

I don't know which CD I have, but it sounds more dynamic than this vinyl. The copy I had was also quite noisy. -
Honestly the debate about whether or not this maxed out running time version sounds good probably has to do with how many times it’s been played and the shape of your stylus. It is too much music for a single record which on many tables will have issues. But if you have the right stylus and the vinyl is in great shape your experience may be delightful. -
The Cure’s watershed moment – maybe their finest album in their amazing catalogue. Wonderfully layered, textured, eerie, lush, catchy, hypnotic, melancholic & majestic gothic neo-psychedelia. Like stepping into a gloomy sonic dream. A timeless masterpiece.

The high-end prices on this one right now, wow, $350 to $600. Also, the reasoning - "Looks like a sealed item." Not actually sealed though, is it?

This pressing sound fantastic. I was very surprised how the low end remained so full and thunderous given the long run time of each side. The dynamics are also engaging, smooth and textured and the instruments given excellent clarity. Plus realistic, punchy drums and extraordinary detail in the background orchestral layers. Nothing about this vinyl pressing sounds bad. Smith’s vocals are clear, concise and intimate. Very happy to finally own an original pressing on vinyl and it doesn’t disappoint. They did an excellent job on the recording and mastering of this album back in ‘89.

Good question on why the highest price is so high. I have this copy. Bought in summer of 1989 and kept it in really good condition. Also think it sound good to me. Technics Turntable Orofan Concorde Cartridge/stylus Marantz 1070 Integrated amp and Advent speakers.
