The "AR" date-code was inscribed each time a stamper was made; they vary considerably in style but it's all the same pressing: some are MM-DD-YY (Variants 1 and 2), but others use a pressing-plant MMDDY shorthand with only the final digit of the year (with or without a / separator, as in Variant 3).
All runouts also contain a tiny and indistinct set of initials that have not yet been identified. (RK, R10 and PY have been suggested, likely that of Ray Hagerty.)
Issued with a special inner sleeve showing a picture of the band in black and white.

Edited 10 months agoClear Light were one of those bands who at one time were only known for the fact that one of their went on to fame in Hollywood as one of their was actor Cliff De Young. Luckily time has ed and now it’s more known for being some first rate sixties psychedelia

This is an excellent, fuzzed out West Coast psych album. Read the other reviews for more details. But two things seemed to be missing from this other reviews - firstly - their are two drummers credited, and either they are playing in unison much of the time they are separated, each in their own channel - but once I figured it out it was even more enjoyable! Secondly, if you are a fan and prefer vinyl I would highly recommend searching for a reissue on Sundazed Records. It’s out of print, and as time goes on fewer copies are available as the price goes up. Grab a copy now! -

Interesting ’67 Elektra West Coast one-off of high-energy psych infused with Byrdsian/Love folk rock, occasional baroque, garage tinges, subtle pop melodies, a great stereo mix & a warm sonic crud. A [slightly flawed] gem. Worthy of a spot in any psych collection. -
I have a later butterfly label US pressing with a sleeve that is laminated like a UK sleeve. -
Also available in 8-track, manufactured by Ampex in a Lear Jet Stereo 8 shell. I’ll get around to ing my copy to the database (but the label is worn out). -
What a great sounding release for the time. It reminds me of Graffiti in that sense.
Stereo imaging could hardly be done better, even by todays standards. The soundstaging is deep and impressive likewise.
Sounds have this echo to them that works really well, especially on drums, and it tends to fit nearly any listening room. Speaking of drums, they also have the perfect tiss and sizzle to the cymbals that I only come to expect from great Jazz recordings. Very satisfying indeed.
Dynamics are good too, more than enough for this type of music, although might be bettered slightly to increase some kick and punch on instruments.
The vinyl too seems quiet, a scratch free copy should yeild quiet backgrounds.
Im very surprised by this records performance. If there was ever a time when I had to choose an old psych album as a test record, this might be the one.
