This is a highly underrated album in their oeuvre and the band themselves have stated it was made with borrowed equipment and felt it was primitive in creation. Sometimes simplicity can be implicit when the ideas and creativity are solid. It’s never one note and the sample usage is spot on. Plus Digital Tension Dementia is not only a killer track title but one of their earliest bangers on the dance floor.

While the influence of Clock DVA (especially on Hypocrisy, Shutdown and Prayer section) is undeniable, you can hear FLA beginning to carve out their own niche in the genre by not only matching their influences in ideas and finesse but starting to transcend them and find their own identity. Front 242, Clock DVA, Cab Voltaire and Skinny Puppy can all be heard here but also something else, something new is beginning to emerge.
