This is an interesting addition to the recorded Xenakis canon. Having written that, it does contain several of his driest pieces. "Polla Ta Dhina" is a stirring piece for children's chorus and orchestra. The chorus sings in unison as the orchestra plays in a seemingly-chaotic manner that one might associate with Xenakis; the contrast is striking.
"ST-10" is a computer generated composition played on acoustic instruments, based on complex mathematical formulae. If memory serves me correctly, the same is true of "Achoripssis". The cover is a portion of the matrix on which the latter is based. These are both worth a listen, if for no other reason to gain insight into the whole of Xenakis' output.
"Akrata" (one definition of the word is "pure") is a colorful bit of post-war pointillism that is nicely effective.
This record is worth seeking out, certainly for "Polla Ta Dhina". The same recording has been reissued several times, but I'm not aware of another recording of this particular piece.
