KISS are the greatest band of all time but this album is utter digdirt (apart from a couple of traxxx)
-
brilliant album in dire need of a dbl lp reissue at nearly 30 minutes a side its too long for a single lp and the sound suffers for it

Edited 12 years agoSometimes it is difficult to as a reviewer write about a record, especially when you just want to write the same line over and over again. The world's worst record. The world's worst record. On repeat.
For my main problem with KISS album "Hot in the shade" is not the flat 80's production or the lack of well written material, is that it is so ... corny made.
All the songs are exactly the same and the recipe is simple - wailying vocals from Paul, a couple of extremely weak riffs and a clumsy production. And right there, seasoned with lines that sound sexy, insert such as a groan 'Oh oh oh, yeah, yeah yeah, do do do, yeah yeah yeah "
Uh, no thanks. Never.
Listening to this release prior to what they have done in the past makes me shiver of discomfort and embarrassment.
