A masterpiece classic. Take Five went on to be one of the most popular tracks during the early 60's and gave this quartet a chance to tour the World based off this track alone. In the liner notes Dave states that it wasn't even suppose to be a hit, just a Joe Morello drum solo. Well, the solo is awesome but the track as a whole is brilliant and goes to show that some of the best works come out by accident. The fact that each track isn't in normal time signature isn't anything new but this Quartet perfected it. They would follow up with the less successful Time Further Out but if anyone wants an excellent example of great Cool Bop Jazz then look no further. Like the Jazz Samba album with Getz and Byrd even non-jazz fans loved it!
