Johnny Ramone's Tribute to Dee Dee Ramone:
" I have been Dee Dee Ramone's friend since 1969. We sat outside our job for two years talking about starting a band before doing it in 1974. We said we were in it till the end, so when he left the band in 1988 it was shocking; but nothing compared to losing him in June 2002. He was truly a unique character, a great songwriter, a friend, and the most influential punk rock bassist of all time. No one else is even close. He will be missed by everyone who knew him or saw him perform-but he has left his mark on rock 'n' roll forever. "
