Popping a CD version of The Third Rebirth such as this one into a player that has audio spectrum visualisation makes it obvious why the track never enjoyed The First Rebirth's popularity, despite being perhaps a better track altogether: it stretches over almost eight minutes, yet less than half of that has a kick. The Third's intro is very long and progressive, it has two huge breaks (with the trademark drum rolls to bring back the driving rhythm) and it simply feels less dancefloor friendly than the First.
Whoever compiled this (Christian Pieters, presumably) must have felt that: stuck in third position of the second CD, the track is also not put forward as much (for comparison, The First was the first track of the first CD of the second compilation).
Shame. The Third is Jones & Stephenson at the very top of their game.
With a couple of excused exceptions, the rest of this compilation also delivers more than just nostalgia value.
