I received a sealed copy from a seller on Discogs recently. I only second guessed it when I saw a post on Reddit today calling attention to the French hype sticker on the cellophane and I noticed mine also came with the same sticker yet there are barely any photos out there with it. The following is on the hype sticker: “THE TUSS = AFX
Info ou intox ?” Also found on the hype sticker is the La Baleine Distribution logo in upper right corner, TRAX magazine logo in the lower left corner (kinda blurry) and a mirrored Rephlex logo in lower right corner. I can only find one other photo on the internet with that hype sticker which was posted on reddit 9 years ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/aphextwin/comments/3vggxv/rushup_edge_cd_mystery_sticker/

Seems to be identical in every way to this UK release except for the hype sticker. Does anyone have any information about this? Only really worried that it is a counterfeit/unofficial. But La Baleine seems to have distributed other AFX/RDJ material like the Analord series. Thought about making a sub-release but consensus seems to be that a different hype sticker doesn't warrant a different release. Please and thanks for any info!

I bit the bullet and bought a mint copy of this CD and I think it was worth it. Really pleasant to listen to, artwork (while minimal) is nice. Shiz Ko E is definitely my favourite.

Took me long enough but finally have a copy of this. Sitting in my truck hearing this mega hyped album for the first time - it rules. You can really hear the transition between the sounds of drukqs to syro.

Nothing beats it. It’s 2023 now. Nothing beats it. Ten words long.

There´s much about Aphex Twin style and sound here, overall a pleasant release, a bit short though. another set of crazy trips. Thank you.

i kind of like it but it sounds a bit weak on some level , if its afx it doenst have the magic of his earlier work at all , i can hear his studio in there being a synth bod myself , my guess is its him and his wife.Dont ask me why but thats my guess. It remains creative work but its not for me.

This is absolutely fantastic. You spend years listening to decent electronic music, and then something like this comes along and you demand more from everyone else. To my ears, there is no doubt this is Richard James, but who knows. All the trademark Aphex-isms are there: immaculate structuring and production, great melodies, and innovative synth work. It's hard to describe what it sounds like, but isn't that why we all love Aphex? This record takes elements for every album he's ever done and mixes it all up into a potent sonic stew. Even if this isn't Aphex Twin, I highly recommend this to anyone!

I'm not sure how to place this album contextually. It harks to traditional electronic motifs but doesn't stay there long.

It reminds me of Drukqs in this way. It's that schizophrenic but it's not glitch. It uses glitch elements strategically to provide contrast to those sections which would otherwise become repetitive. It is masterfully crafted.

The instrumentation seem to confirm the uprising popularity of old synth technology. Those who use this technology proclaim a superiority over the digital simulation of it and I tend to agree.

I find the hype around its true author/s entertaining and interesting. False answers to mundane questions are always so much better.

I have an insatiable demand for this type of music and so infrequently is it met. More of this music please!

I think this release is over rated, not because of the music, but because of the hype that has been built up around it. If this truly is AFX then I am disappointed. It is pretty decent, but not what I expected from a new RDJ release. It's been done, and been done better, Ceephax amongst others. The track Death Fuck really makes me mad though, How much glitchy fuckery can we really get? didn't we have enough with Drukqs? I'm killing for those old classic RDJ melodies he made from his array of synths. The Analord series wet my whistle but it wasn't enough. Don't get me completely wrong, some tracks are good.

The standout to me is Rushup I Bank 12. This is a beautiful track, maybe as good as any RDJ track in the last 7 or 8 years. It combines the digital sound he perfected in Drukqs and the RDJ album with the core melodies of the Analord releases. A real Winner. The first two(Synthacon 9,Rushup 10 ) are decent/good. The last one is chill, pretty patented Analord stuff. The only curio on here may be Shiz Ko E. The main synth line is absolutely gorgeous. I love it. It makes me think of old 70's cop shows. Unfortunately, it's very short.

In the end when I Reassess the album and all of it's good points I have to remind myself, it's all been done. I keep telling myself, I could of swore I already heard this or that somewhere else, and it's because I have! Buy it if you’re an RDJ fan but if not, just stick to Ceephax or Luke Vibert. It will give you some good tunes for the rotation, but it won't last longer than a week or so.

Well, I don't care who made this, as much as I wonder how well this was made. Rushup Edge is a great recording in every sense of the word. All elements are ed for...Drums, synths, atmospheres, and arrangement (which is exactly what I like!!). This album is a journey through just about every braindace rhythm, with beautiful synth work to match...just listen to the swaying dashes of synth collide with the bubbly basslines...it's magnificent. Not much I'd like to say other than, this is one of the best recordings for Rephlex this year...and that's saying something considering Ceephax, Aleksi Perälä and Dopplereffekt. Recommended!!!
