Carlos Santana is truly on of the greatest guitar players of all time and he really gets it on here the problem with this album is the vocals which are super lame with crappy lyrics. The vocals are so bad that I can't buy this album. Too bad because Carlos is absolutely incredible

Chepito and Dave Brown aren't here but otherwise this sounds like the great old school Santana of the late 1960s... in fact, Greg Rolie's "Anywhere You Want To Go" has the same vibe as "Evil Ways". It's a great record. Pretty slick yet somehow it just doesn't grab me by the balls as vintage Santana did when I first heard them, but then again, I'm quite a bit older now and...well.. as Thom Wolfe said, "You can't go home again". Still a terrific double album set and the best way to listen to it is via vinyl, one side at a time. The pressing is outstanding, and the cover art is gorgeous, embossed gloss with the tiger's eyes, teeth and a few top whiskers raised. A joy to hold, peruse, and to listen to. The whole presentation is a work of art.

This is a really great album in my opinion. It's a reunion of the original band and the sound is so smooth and sultry. Looks cool on the translucent orange vinyl which came from Barnes and Noble. A must have for any Santana fan.

I have this album, and I ed the digital format too, I have not bothered looking in to my digital folder since ing it and it has just sat there in my folder waiting for the day I extract it.

Well that day came today a few years later, aaand, I have 32 files instead of 16 like on the album, ok, I have two sets of each song, one in MP3 and another in WAV, but I cannot understand why my MP3 files all have the same track numbers as the album while the WAV files are all randomly numbered, I can't even find any references online to find out why, well it certainly ain't a life and death situation but it really does confuse the hell outta me.

When listening to early versions of Santana with the original lineup, you can feel the fire an ion of young men giving there hearts and souls to the music they are playing. Intense, fast, moving in various directions of composition.
On the other hand you have the basically the same group of men who are now older, more tired and less inspired to write compositions that bring that ion and fire out in there music. It's hell to get old and this CD brings that message to the forefront. Times have indeed changed as we all mellow into our senior years.

The wildly anticipated studio album, Santana IV, reunites the revered early ’70s lineup of guitar icon Carlos Santana (guitar, vocals), Gregg Rolie (keyboards, lead vocals), Neal Schon (guitar, vocals), Michael Carabello (percussion) and Michael Shrieve (drums). The album signifies the first time in 45 years — since 1971’s multi-platinum classic Santana III — that the quintet has recorded together.

Santana IV features all-new tracks written and produced by the band that burst with the same unparalleled energy and superlative musicianship that made Santana a pioneering force in world music and a household name across the globe. ing the core Santana IV band in the studio are current Santana Karl Perazzo (percussion) and Benny Rietveld (bass), with the legendary vocalist Ronald Isley guesting on two cuts.

The origins for the reunion go back several years, when Schon suggested that he and Carlos Santana record together. Santana liked the idea but went one better, proposing that they recruit Rolie, Shrieve and Carabello for what would be called Santana IV. After initial writing sessions and rehearsals took place in 2013, the group recorded throughout 2014 and 2015, amassing 16 spellbinding tracks that combined all their signature elements — Afro-Latin rhythms, soaring vocals, electrifying blues-psychedelic guitar solos, and irrepressibly jubilant percussion work — with widescreen hooks and melodies that will lodge themselves in the thicket of listeners’ senses and stay there.

Like the past few projects that included Neil Schon this CD received a poor pressing with skips & gaps in it. Otherwise very good.

How can an album be 'classic rock' when it came out in 2016 ? LoL
