Black Star – Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star

Constant whooshing noise with this one. It's low enough that you can't really hear it most of the time, but it's noticeable on the quieter songs (during K.O.S., for instance). Might be due to the pressing being slightly off-center? Pretty frustrating, as I love this album :/

This is noisy throughout. New copy, cleaned as best I could but the crackling is present no matter what I do. Unfortunate because otherwise it's fairly dynamic and looks cool with the faint stars on the vinyl, but I'd rather have a cleaner, quieter version.

You can always tell when the normie masses discover something known to everyone else since forever. Meanwhile, those that don't follow trends or d♤ck-ride, most likely already have oG copies of this record & are not sweating a notoriously bad record label to do business with as they attempt (I don't blame them) at capitalizing on the zombie like trend that started 10 years ago of everyone needing records, especially when the music makes them feel "hip" because they view the artist as fringe edgy or underground. Which Blackstar is not any of those things of course. But that's semantics

Not a great pressing in parts. Frustrating definition and re:definition don’t flow into one another like they do on the original. If you love this album I’d find an alternative.

People have been saying that this is a bad pressing because it’s a picture disc.
Those people have bad equipment or they are just nitpicking. It’s not the best pressing in the world but it’s totally fine and it sounds great. I’m playing it on a Technics SL-BD3 (Ortofon OM10 Stylus) and Audio Techinca LP120XUSB (The green stylus). Although the B side sounds a bit duller than the A side, it still doesn’t ruin the listening experience for me. I reccomend it and it also looks beautiful!

I’m not gonna lie, I was expecting this to sound really bad based on all of the reviews I’ve read. I just gave this a full listen and honestly, it sounds pretty good to me. I’m not sure if they’ve increased the quality since the earlier pressings, but I’ve had noisier picture disks that ive spent way more money on. Hopefully they press it on normal wax but for $23, i’m chillin with this pressing

Yeah picture disc, a little crackly at times but overall sound is full, rich, clear on my copy. Great album. Best alliance in hip hop
