Ol' Dirty Bastard – Return To The 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version

Pretty sure this came out in 1995 as I bought it from new.

How do I get this, or have someone trade digital files with me?

This sounds spectacular! A definitive press for this quintessential record! Quite happy with this, even at $50!

Note, the instrumental version of "Shimmy Shimmy Ya" on this 2LP has chorus and backup vocals on it, the original 12 inch single did not. Also, I used to have the original instrumentals 2LP and I'm pretty sure that one didn't have the chorus and backups on it either.

We are emailing you to provide an update on Ol’ Dirty Bastard Return to the 36 Chambers.

In March, we featured Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s Return to the 36 Chambers as our Hip-Hop Record of the Month. Due to the demand, that title was oversold, and we were forced to make the tough decision to delay the record for a small handful of folks, to ship in June.

Around the time that copies were landing on customers doorsteps, we started getting reports of a pressing defect on disc two of Return to the 36 Chambers. In the last minute of side D, on the final track, “Harlem World,” the audio cuts out during the intro, in a very strange way.

We then started to investigate exactly what happened — the file was corrupted when being transferred to be lacquered — and because it happened on beat, it was extremely difficult to catch during our QA processes. But that doesn’t sit well with us: We want this to be the best version of the album that’s ever existed. So, we had new lacquers cut, and had to work out with the label about how to ship this, and how to make sure the tests were perfect for this new edition, which took more time than we’d have liked.

But, finally, we have an update:
If you received your copy of Return to 36 Chambers already, come October, you will be shipped a replacement disc 2, with the corrected version of “Harlem World.”
If your copy was delayed entirely, you will receive your copy of the album — with the corrected version of “Harlem World” — in October as well.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this delay may have caused, but hope this update can clear up any confusion surrounding this issue. If you have any questions, please feel free to respond to this email and our team will be happy to clear things up for you!

Surprised I haven't seen this mentioned here yet, but the track list and credits on the inner gatefold weren't updated with the two extra songs (Dirty Dancin' and Harlem World). Those two songs aren't mentioned in the track list there and the track listing per record side wasn't updated for this reissue either. Kind of interesting VMP either missed that or decided not to update it. No complaints on the packaging or sound otherwise.
