A monumental record, and quintessential Pharoah Sanders. I'm unaware of the status of his master tapes, but this kind of care and presentation is what his records deserve (*cough* Third Man Records). -

Anybody take a chance on this one? How's it sound what's it look like? I still have an old Maxell metal tape of an original Impulse! pressing back with Village of the Pharaohs I've had since the 80s and still plays pretty good but I maybe like to have a better physical copy LOL... -
Phenomenal sound for a great album that speaks to your soul.

I had the opportunity of hearing an original last week. It blew me away and I knew I had to it. Not cheap for this in the UK but worth every penny!!! I've also been dining out on 'Pharoah'...my soul feels nourished!! Superb record!!! -
Quiet and flat vinyl. Absolutely enormous soundstage. I would not call the sound vibrant, but it is clear, with excellent separation of instruments. The sound does not seem to expand beyond the speakers, so the feeling is similar to being in the audience about halfway back in the hall, while the band plays on stage. The long song on Side 1 ends very, very quietly. It is moments like this that demand a silent pressing, and that demand is met pretty well here. No ticks or pops disrupt the mood.
Artwork on the front cover is very blurry and low res. Looks like shit. Photos inside the gatefold are a little better, but still grainy. Nothing like the beautiful photos you get inside the gatefold of a Tone Poet release. VMP has become known for cheap-looking artwork that really diminishes their releases.
I never heard this before and it's really great. Musically, VMP hit a homerun on this one. Highly recommended. -
STUNNING pressing. There is so much going on in the music, but it isn't muddy at all. Hoping this VMP "Spiritual Jazz" series continues. -
Maybe I’m lucky but the copy I’ve got is not off centre, there’s no issue with sibilance or distortion and sounds good to my ears.

Sound quality and fidelity of this pressing is great! Distinct separation of instruments and a great pressing overall! -
