Great to finally have in on vinyl. Unfortunately Cherry Red does it again. Instead of putting too much music per side like they normally do, this time they spread it thin with about 15 minutes per side. That is not the worst thing they could do, however there are some obvious bonus tracks that should have been included here. Put 18-20 minutes on each side and end up with space for bonus tracks on side 4.
Anyway, this isn't the best album. It's kind of the lowest of the "rompler" albums. Cool idea, and cool songs that actually come to life in the live versions and the much better Road Worms album. This album feels like home demos made on a rompler workstation. Luckily I'm not the only one that felt that and the tour for this show introduced much better versions of the songs and an actual full live band. The beginning of a true classic lineup. This studio album though..... meh. It's nice to have but would have been better with some bonus tracks and a nice vinyl release.

This album is a surprise knockout. Never heard it til last week, but this is clearly a sweet spot for Residents identity - along with Eskimo, which make two seriously good albums to kick back in the dark and vibe out to. Scratch weird inner brain areas.

I cannot understand why anybody would give more than one star for this. It is by far the worst Residents album I've ever heard (and I really love most of them!). Just listen to those primitive non-melodies the singers sing, it sounds like someone without any skill or knowledge would have tried to write music. Or like they had to improvise without any preparation. I am really speechless how bad this is! Of course it still sounds like the Residents due to their production technique and (with some tracks) that well-known singer. But even he sings in a manner that is just boring, to say the least. Whoever gave this more than one or two stars: Listen again and compare with any other Residents album!
