Arooj Aftab – Night Reign

Unbelievable pressing, one of the clearest and most dynamic in my collection. I don't like the changed tracklist, the pacing is definitely very different.

The music and mastering are sublime. Very clear and spacious sounding release. Arooj's voice is something else; really soothing and calming. However it's all been let down by a worse than average pressing. I've had two copies of the grey and one black. One badly warped, and all suffered from terrible surface noise and occasional short ripping sounds, especially noticeable on the quiet sections i shall give it a wet clean and report back on the results.

Amazing music and recording marred by vinyl that had visible scratches and marks on both sides. A double clean with my Okki Nokki has improved the ticks and pops considerably - enough to make me want to keep this beautiful album.

That said, there will probably be no more Czech GZ pressings for me!

My grey copy is excellent. There are a few occasional pops but nothing to be concerned about.

Musically, it is a soundscape the likes of which I have never heard before. I had listened to this on streaming services first, and it is a completely different experience on vinyl. First, the tracklisting is different - the vinyl sequencing flows so much better. Also, the vinyl version of "Raat Ki Rani" is a minute longer than the CD/streaming version.

Filthy and warped pressing. Needed a thorough ultrasonic cleaning. For almost AU$ 80.00 retail price, it's a disgrace! At least the music and voice are stunning. To be stored away and enjoyed on spotify. Another dirty overpriced pressing from CZ Media.

Grey copy quiet as can be. What a stunning landscape Arooj takes us to this time.

Got this from Juno in an absolutely shoddy state, the vinyl warped and with white residue and dust on both sides. The inner sleeve was a horrible plain paper one. It did not play without noise and skips after cleaning with a record brush.

Cleaned it thoroughly with a Knosti and thankfully it is a beautiful sounding, quiet copy. I can live with the warp.

The music itself is absolutely sublime and I know this and her other music being a part of my life to the very end. Her voice is incredible and at times it reminds me of Sade's.

I have PTSD from going through three (!) copies of Vulture Prince due to quality issues before caving and getting the OG New Amsterdam pressing. Took a chance on this pressing and glad I did! Mixed beautifully and plays silently.

I had theingroove in AZ ultrasonically clean my lp before shipping and my copy sounds perfect. So, maybe this pressing needs a good wash before listening.
