The Doors – Light My Fire

Only get it if you want a physical single for cheap and you don't plan on listening to it, since it sound like trash and it makes me worry I'll break my record player playing it again with how it sounded.

I like the edit version of "Light My Fire". They didn't just cut the middle out and leave the two ends, it's pretty clever actually. Of course I prefer the full version, but if you need to hear it in a hurry. there you go!

i agree with hefel-be, this pressing sounds terrible. so much distortion you can barely discern any detail.

Is this the only time the full 6:50 version got released as a 7"?

Avoid this pressing if you can. I just bought a perfectly clean copy that sounds like trash. All of the peaks are clipped and everything is muddled throughout the entire A/B runs. This is the second version of "Light My Fire/Crystal Ship" I bought that sounds like this. The first one I bought was R7-560493-2. If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know.

These are the original mono mixes (and the 45 edit of LMF to boot) - a great, cheap way to get these great sounding versions!

My sister went to San Francisco summer of love ‘67 and she said they were playing a 7 minute version of it there. Maybe the same, or a year later, I heard “break on through” and it was electrifying.

While at my college radio station we found this tune in a box of promo 45's. We played it on the air months before it was popular nationwide. Don't know if it was true but it was said Electra didn't do well promoting rock recordings. I first heard the Doors at a concert at the Eastman Theater in Rochester, NY. A second time in Boston a bit later.

Very rare French original limited press for jukebox and for promotional business. "Ligfht My Fire" is a shorter and faster version that any other versions. "Crystal Ship" is slower than any other versions. The label is the same as the photo except for the words written below the date (Tirage limité réservé en aux Juke-Boxes et à la Promotion). A real curious single housed in Elektra label orange sleeve.
