GZ drive me crazy as they can press great LPs, luckily like my copy of Old No. 1, but also put out noisy duds. Mastering is great, maybe could be a touch richer but just pulls you into its world so who cares. -

This pressing is awesome, and I think it's the best I've ever heard this album sound. It being one of my favorite albums, it's now one of my favorite records!
The record was dead silent, didn't even need a cleaning. -

This might be my favorite record in my entire collection. Absolutely flawless pressing and maybe the greatest country album of all time. Japanese pressing never disappoint. -

Very great pressing! Beats my original copy in soundstage and bass for sure. Packaging is nice too. Pick this up! -

Great sounding record. Guy Clark’s vocals are up front. Sounds he’s standing right in front of you. Good separation of the instruments. Drums could be better. Love it! -

Pretty decent 4MWB pressing (for once). Flat, quiet, true to the master tapes.
Edit 04/30/25: I took a close listen to this record this morning, and must say, it's really a great sounding record. Like yerboi I agree there's literally zero surface noise, even in the run in/outs, or between songs. There's a wee bit of sibilance when Guy sings certain words, but it's so minimal and only shows up a couple times; not enough to be an annoyance. The overall mix is nice and even, as I mention, you can tell they stayed true to the master tapes and didn't time fixing the mix much; it didn't really need it. I'll add that the harmony vocals, supplied by Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle, Rodney Crowell, et al really make the record. It's just a perfect country record, and given it's 1975 pedigree, doesn't suffer from 80's glitzy mixing. The mix is just dry enough to s=keep everything nicec and separate, yet coming together as a cohesive, and prefect, whole. -

Wow, VMP hits a homerun! Beautiful wax, flawlessly pressed, and almost dead silent background. Comparing this pressing to a near mint original pressing, I'd prefer this release. A true classic demonstrating the finest songwriting from Guy, with not a disappointing song on either side. Of course the highest quality gatefold cover, well-written booklet, poly-lined inner sleeve and OBI complete the package. Wonderful release for a very deserving album that sounds as fresh as it did when originally released nearly 50 years ago. Fantastic. -

I am not a big fan, but have a lot of respect for the era of country and musicians participate in this album. Man this sounds really good, no matter what genre of music you are into.👍🏼 -
D' une melanconique beautée ...année après année ...ca doit faire au mois 46/47 ans qu' il tourne sur la platine...toujours magique.
Et l' enregistrement en pleine forme! -
Edited 2 years agoBest country album ever made!
Randy Kling cut as per the scribbleK. A pretty loud mastering but also a really live, if not dry, sound. Well worth for SQ.
