sound is absolutely incredible, no doubt my best sounding color vinyl, love the sleeve with the spinning artwork, i just hope the middle "bearing" wont make the vinyls bend over time -

Just playing through first time, this is an absolutely superb remaster, both the SQ and the pressing quality, in fact the quality of the entire thing is unusually high for NinjaTune, I've almost always had to wash NinjaTune records out of the factory as they're normally dirty as hell. Often get dinged corners and uncentered labels as well. This is a completely different story, from the shipping packaging which was much higher quality than normal, through to the high quality of the cover, through totally flat records, clean as a whistle and very low background noise. This is a first class product, I only hope this continues from them, they have such great artists on the label, it's a shame when it's let down by shoddy QC. Long may this continue. 5 Stars through and through. -

After the prologue that was Animal Magic, this is the album that reaffirmed/solidified Bonobo’s status in the electronic music scene. Folk, hip hop, jazz, downtempo - all is carefully blended here into a highly sophisticated, instrumental whole. His later releases prominently feature vocals - this is Bonobo at his purest. Too many highlights to mention, but the inclusion of Four Tet’s celestial remix (those drums!) is an extra tasty bonus. The packaging is superb and inventive and the pressing quality stellar. -
My copy has an additional MPO number stamped in the runout on each side, but otherwise matches this release. New release?

My introduction to Bonobo and imo his strongest work. Not a weak track on this album and I love that they are all instrumentals. This pressing is solid. It might not be that far different than the CD as far as sound dynamics, but I'm happy to have this on wax to throw on a proper system. Clean and deep lows. Two things that stood out for me were the extended version of 'Something For Windy', which always felt way too short and the inclusion of the Four Tet remix of 'Pick Up', which is one of the best Bonobo remixes ever done.

This pressing has a track titled "Behind the Light" and it wasn't included in the 2003 pressing. It was originally a B side track to the 'Pick Up' single.

Edited 6 years agoThis is Bonobo's uncrowned masterpiece, no doubt. The sound is really cohesive, like a beautiful, almost fragile, little story of life, with all its ups and downs. All the Bonobo albums are actually really cohesive and each displays perfectly his current musical level and interest. BUT ;) this one is the one i'm coming back over and over again. The re-issued Vinyl version also holds the longer version of windy, which was a dream comming true. Always wanted it to be longer, well here we go.
Back then i started with Animals and i still recommend it as the "Bonobo-starter-album". What's your opinion?! -
Yeah, payed $$$ + transport believing it's the 2003 issue, received this version with the wrong incorrect label on D that costs a fraction ffs. Thank you Ninja Tune for making the versions transparent
