Pixies – Doolittle

This pressing of Doolittle sounds surprisingly dynamic and detailed, especially considering the relatively low price. This comes alongside a printed sleeve and insert, adding a nice touch to the reissue. Overall, this release is highly recommended!

My copy sounds great, hardly any surface noise at all. Love this record!

Generally speaking a nice pressing, quiet and clean, beautiful details, but my copy has side A pressed slightly off center, unfortunately quite audible. Bummer

I found this at my local store and got it even though I have the recent reissue. This absolutely destroys the reissue so I'm surprised it actually has a lower rating. The sound from this is blistering and aggressive as the songs demand. It explodes from the speakers as I've found many of the 80s and 90s direct metal mastered (DMM) records do. This is one of my best sounding rock albums, and highly recommend if you can find it. I have no need for the reissue anymore, esp since it's a poppy crappy United press anyway

Absolute killer pressing both in of quality of pressing and the mastering done by Ryan Smith! What a gem of a reissue.

Dynamic range is amazing and the soundstage is massive. The EQ is superb as well, everything sounds balanced. Usually when I buy reissues of late 80s/90s records, the flat mastering always makes me go seek out an analog reissue or original pressing. Happy to say this reissue is not one of them.

Sounds great. I am quite partial to this album. My wife turned me on to it about 15 years ago at the beginning of our relationship. I’ve loved it ever since. This record is perfectly flat. Silent when it should be no obvious pops or clicks. Good track separation.

Brilliant - cuts like razors. I wonder how the original US DMM sounds, but this would be difficult to improve on, and every copy was probably cut digitally by this point I'm guessing.
