Black pressing isn't special. This album deserves a better quality vinyl. Lower quality is more prominent on certain tracks than others (e.g you can definitley tell that this isn't a good press on System Preference). However, it is still listenable and doesn't really detract from my enjoyment

Edited 7 years agoI bought this album on a hunch after seeing some chatter online, and ehhhhh yikes. Wow, I almost want to just throw this thing in the trash. First, the disc is horribly warped, and since the jacket is pristine, I have to assume this was just pressing plant sloppiness. Luckily, it plays without skipping, but that's not to say it sounds good. There are horrible clicks and popping everywhere. Pops render one song on the B side totally unlistenable. The overall sound quality is low and sounds like a compressed digital rip. I cleaned this thoroughly like everything else I listen to. Musically, I am a bit disappointed as well. I was hoping for something with a bit more edge and math insanity than this offers. I like most the tracks, but they have this generally sweet, poppy sound that grinds on me over the course of the record. Frankly, the vocals suck. They're bland, watered down, and add nothing to the band's sound. I would actually prefer the instrumental tracks.
With how miserable the pressing is, my advice is to avoid this thing at all costs. -
Edited 6 years agoBlack pressing is slightly better than thepink one. My first BubbleGum Pink copy sounds very flat and way too many clicks and pops well after vinyl was cleaned.
EDIT: This black press was less noisy than the pink one but the music is way too compressed. Sounds like an average digital rip printed on a vinyl. For shame.

Edited 6 years agoSound is very limited and I hear random clicks -almost sibilance- all the way throughout. Constant popping through some songs. Would like to hear from other people. The music has potential but my copy is upsetting. I will be seeking a replacement and I will update with it later.
EDIT: Hellomerch sent me a black, less noisy press free of charge. The mix is still flat as hell.
