Pic Disc

Profile:

Pic Disc Inc. was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nashville's Fitzgerald-Hartley management company, owned by Mark Hartley and Larry Fitzgerald. They specialized in pressing picture discs from the late 1970s through the early 1990s. They were exclusive assignees of the patent by which picture discs were made. The Pic Disc picture-disc Lp and 45, as well as the Trick Disc shaped picture disc were found on issues from bands as diverse as Paul McCartney and Iron Maiden.

In mid-1978, the pressing plant started expanding their facilities to meet demand. Among their earliest commercial releases (excluding promotional discs made in small amounts) were Heart's Magazine album and the Beatles Sgt. Pepper's reissue. At that time, they already had 20 presses including some of their presses were acquired in a deal with Houston Records.

The Pic Disc logo can usually be found within the picture-disc artwork of the release, and sometimes on the printed cover (if supplied).
