Phase 4 Stereo was a series created in 1961, supposedly for better sound, by being recorded on a 10-channel, and later 20-channel, recording console. Approximately 200 LPs were released under this branch, including popular music, "gimmick" records engineered to make the sound travel from speaker to speaker, records featuring percussion effects, and historical sound-effect records.
In 1964, a light-classical Phase 4 Stereo Concert Series was produced.
Starting from 1971, "Phase 4" is listed as a Decca sublabel in the "Billboard International Buyer's Guide 1971–'72".
