Formed in New York City in 1944 by Ike and Bess Berman, with Hy Siegel and Sam Schneider. The label recorded rhythm and blues, gospel, jazz, doowop, and popular music.
Purchased in '62 by Everest took over the operation and distribution while Apollo still retained its own label identity.
